GRE TEST stands for Graduate Record Examination. Graduate Record Examination, GRE TEST is a standardized test which is required to take admissions in graduate schools in United States, US. GRE TEST does not consist of questions from any particular subject. It just measures how efficiently one can respond to questions in limited time. GRE TEST consists of two types of test:

  1. General Test – The general test consists of questions from following sections: Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative ability, and Analytical Writing Skills. A candidate can select his/her date of exam as per his/her convenience.
  2. Subject Test – The subject test measures the ability of a candidate in a particular subject if his/her background discipline. this test consists of questions from following sections: Bio- Chemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Literature(English), Physics and Psychology. This test is conducted on a fixed date.

GRE TEST PATTERN has Changed after July 2011:

The GRE TEST pattern has changed after July 2011 and now GRE is not a computer adaptive test. New GRE TEST pattern consists of two sections for GRE TESTverbal and quantitative. The performance in the given section will determine the level of next section. For example if you get a high score in section -I then Section-II will consist of a set of questions which falls under difficult or very difficult category. This pattern however makes the new GRE Exam difficult to crack.
